EL TORO : MPs Foil Alleged Attempt at Rape
A Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape after military police from the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station investigated the suspect’s car parked near the military base.
A 19-year-old woman told authorities she had missed her bus Sunday about 5 p.m. in Santa Ana and Jesus Solorio, 29, had offered her a ride, said Lt. Richard Olson of the Sheriff’s Department.
She accepted, but Solorio drove her to an orange grove on Irvine Boulevard next to the Marine base, Olson said.
Solorio threatened her with a replica of a handgun and was trying to remove her clothing when military police officers from the base approached the car. He was arrested without incident, and the victim was uninjured, Olson said.
Solorio is scheduled to be arraigned today.
