Schniepp to Coach Baseball at Christ College

Christ College Irvine has hired Jackie Schniepp, a former Westmont baseball player, as its baseball coach, the college announced Tuesday.

This season, Schniepp was a graduate assistant at East Stroudsburg (Pa.), where he has been working on his master’s degree in sports management. He also was an assistant coach at UC Santa Barbara after graduating from Westmont in 1989. He was an all-conference and all-district selection his senior season at Westmont.

Schniepp replaces Scott Sarver, who resigned in May to become an associate baseball coach at Point Loma Nazarene.

UC Irvine sailors Nick Adamson and Geoff Becker have been named All-Americans by the Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Assn., the university announced.

Adamson and Becker helped the Anteaters to a fourth-place finish in the ICYRA Dinghy Nationals and a second-place finish in the ICYRA Team Racing Championships. Teammate Randy Lake was an honorable-mention selection.
