Compaq, Dell May Cut Computer Prices Again: The two companies renowned for cloning International Business Machines Corp. personal computers said they are getting ready for what could be another round of price wars in the PC market. Houston-based Compaq Computer Corp., which last week introduced its first low-cost desktop and notebook computers, announced at a Wall Street technology conference that it will launch more products later this year. In the meantime, one of Compaq’s toughest rivals--Dell Computer Corp.--said it will introduce 23 new, aggressively priced PCs on Monday. Dell Computer stock rose strongly on the NASDAQ market after its chairman’s remarks, closing up $1.25 a share at $17. Shares in Compaq were off 25 cents at $24.25 on the New York Stock Exchange.
