Countywide : Head of Crime Lab Pleads No Contest

Share

The head of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department crime lab pleaded no contest Thursday to two counts of falsifying vehicle registration papers.

Norman A. Wade, 46, of Port Hueneme was placed on two years probation on the misdemeanor charges, which involved falsifying an automobile license plate and registration documents. Municipal Judge Ken W. Riley also ordered Wade to pay a $300 fine.

Robert I. Schwartz, Wade’s attorney in the criminal matter, said he did not have details about the incident but said it has cost Wade his job with the Sheriff’s Department. He said Wade has consulted attorney James Matthew Farley about contesting the dismissal.

Farley said he could not discuss the case.

Neither Wade nor Sheriff’s Department officials could be reached for comment.

The crime lab analyzes evidence to be presented in criminal cases in the county’s municipal and superior courts.
