The city and a developer have selected three sites that they will pitch to the Los Angeles Clippers for a proposed 20,000-seat sports arena.

The basketball team has said it would move from its current home, the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Exposition Park, unless that facility is renovated. The team also is considering a proposed arena near Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.

Burbank officials and developer Lew Wolff narrowed the possible sites for the arena to three this week. The Clippers did not return phone calls from The Times on Friday, but team officials have said they will make a decision about the club’s new home by the end of the year.

The Burbank sites are at Victory Place and Empire Avenue near a proposed Wal-Mart; on Hollywood Way adjacent to the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport, and an 8.3-acre parcel at Burbank Boulevard and the Golden State Freeway, which became available earlier this year when the Zero Corp. moved to Utah.
