South Pasadena : Tours of 710 Freeway Route
As part of their campaign against the proposed extension of the Long Beach (710) Freeway, South Pasadena officials have developed a program of twice-a-month bus tours along the route favored by transportation planners.
“It is important to see firsthand the devastation of the freeway route,” Mayor Harry A. Knapp said in explaining why the tour program was created.
The one-hour tours--set on a regular basis for the second and fourth Sundays of the month--are scheduled to begin Sunday at 1 and 2 p.m. Reservations must be made by calling the city manager’s office at (818) 799-9101 or by signing up in person at City Hall, 1414 Mission St.
There is no admission charge for the tours, which will depart from the South Pasadena Heritage Museum on Meridian Avenue, just south of Mission Street.
