Cal State Northridge sophomore outside hitter Ana Kristich has been on a tear since the semifinal match of the UC Santa Barbara women’s volleyball tournament against the host Gauchos on Sept. 12. Kristich had only two kills and a minus-.259 hitting percentage against Santa Barbara. In four matches since, she is averaging 14 kills a match and hitting at a .281 clip.

Northridge seniors Dawn Krenik and Nancy Nicholls are third and fifth on the all-time Matador list for digs but at their current pace should occupy the top two places by the end of the season. Krenik has 840 digs in her career, including 168 this season; Nicholls has 809 digs, 158 this season. They each had 18 Tuesday in a four-game victory over the University of San Diego. Alissa Evans set the Northridge record of 1,051 from 1986-89.

Nicholls, who had a team-high 15 kills against San Diego, is 10 shy of 1,000 in her career. . . . Sophomore middle blocker Heather Anderson had a personal-high 23 digs against San Diego.

Football: Outside linebacker Angel Chavez leads Northridge in tackles with 26, including 13 solo tackles. Chavez, a junior, is also the leader in sacks with three for 20 yards.

The leader in solo tackles is junior outside linebacker Ivy Calvin with 14. He has 25 overall. Senior free safety Gerald Ponder also has 25 tackles and is the team leader in interceptions with two. . . . Duc Ngo leads in receiving with 17 catches for 215 yards.
