ANTELOPE VALLEY : Unexploded Bombs to Be Detonated

Share

Three nearly 50-year-old unexploded bombs found last month southeast of Rodgers dry lake bed, will be detonated about 11 a.m. Sunday, Edwards Air Force Base officials announced Friday.

One of the weapons, a 500-pound gas bomb, may contain phosgene or cyanogen chloride, an Air Force spokesman said. The two others were 10-pound bombs. The demolition will be done on the remote bombing range where they were found and will pose no threat to the health or safety of the base population or residents in the surrounding communities, Air Force spokesman Dennis Shoffner said.
