WEEKEND TV : ‘President’s Women’ Explores Past Presidential Scandals

“America at Risk: All the President’s Women,” which will air Sunday at 9 p.m. on KCAL, explores some of the legendary scandals in America’s history and looks at the fundamental relationship between sex and power.

The show examines, through reports by authors, journalists and presidential scholars, the personal and professional lives of several Presidents, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Guests include Gore Vidal, Liz Smith, Doris Kearns Goodwin, James MacGregor Burns and Dr. Michael Beschloss.

With the general election just over a week away, the weekend’s news and talk shows will be busy analyzing the campaigns down the homestretch.

President George Bush will be a guest on “Newsmaker Saturday,” today at 10:30 a.m. on CNN.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Al Gore will appear on “Both Sides With Jesse Jackson,” today, 6 p.m., (repeats Monday at midnight) on CNN.

Vice President Dan Quayle will discuss competitiveness on ABC’s “Business World,” Sunday at 11 a.m. (7)(3), 10 a.m. (42).

And California’s long-term U.S. Senate candidates, Rep. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and her Republican opponent Bruce Herschensohn, will be guests on ABC’s “This Week With David Brinkley,” Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (7)(3); 10:30 a.m. (10)(42).

CBS will televise Game 6 of the World Series today at 5:30 p.m. between the Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves. The Blue Jays lead, 3 games to 2.
