MISSION COLLEGE : Fall Enrollment Up 2% to 7,725

Share

Fall semester enrollment increased 2% over last year at Mission College, said college President Jack Fujimoto.

Mission has 7,725 students this year compared to 7,582 last fall. The figures reflect the enrollment at the end of the fourth week of classes on Sept. 18.

“Community needs for education, not the budget, should dictate how many students we can serve, so that the opportunity for an education is available to everyone,” Fujimoto said. “This fall we tried to accommodate as many students as we could, recognizing the budget uncertainties.”

The enrollment increase may be a result of closed classes at state universities and other community colleges, said Annie Phillips of the admissions and records office.

Applications for the spring semester will be available starting Nov. 16.
