CITY SIDEWALK SALE: Robert J. Dixon, now in prison for embezzling $1.8 million as utilities director in Newport Beach, spent much of it to compile an impressive collection of photographs. The city hopes to recoup some of its losses--maybe half a million--with an auction of 150 of those pieces Monday at Butterfield & Butterfield in Los Angeles. “The collection is wonderful ,” says a spokeswoman for the art auctioneers.
