Three gang members were arrested Monday on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a gang-related shooting, Oxnard police said.

Officers arrested Jose Prado, 20, and two unnamed juveniles at 4:35 a.m. after one of the three allegedly fired two rounds from a 9-millimeter semiautomatic handgun at rival gang members, police said.

The three drove to a house in the 600 block of Spruce Street and began throwing beer cans and shouting gang slogans at rival gang members, Oxnard police spokesman David Keith said.

The rival gang members chased the suspects’ vehicle on foot to J and Spruce streets, where the car stopped, Keith said. Two of the occupants left the car, and one of them allegedly shot at the rival gang. They then re-entered the vehicle and fled north on J Street, police said.

No one was injured in the shooting, police said.

The three were caught at 7th and I streets, where police said they also recovered the weapon believed used in the shooting.

Prado and one of the juveniles were released Monday from police custody, Keith said. The other juvenile is being held at Juvenile Hall, he said.
