CANYON COUNTRY : Boy, 9, Is Fatally Injured by Auto

A 9-year-old boy was fatally injured Wednesday when he was struck by a car on a Canyon Country road in Santa Clarita, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Trenton Washburn ran into the path of a car headed south on Sand Canyon Road, just north of Soledad Canyon Road about 3 p.m., Sgt. Richard Lichten said. The child sustained critical injuries and died at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Lichten said.
Shirley Hanusek, 32, of Studio City, the driver of the car, was uninjured in the accident, Lichten said. The accident is under investigation.
