A man was shot and critically wounded Friday evening, reportedly after a dispute with a co-worker, police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was hit by several rounds of gunfire at approximately 7 p.m. as he stood in a parking lot in the 1200 block of East Borchard Ave., said Santa Ana Police Lt. Earl Porter.

“The suspect drove up in a car and fired several rounds into the torso of the victim and also shot his hand when the victim tried to grab the gun,” Porter said.

The victim collapsed and was taken by his friends to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he underwent surgery Friday night.

The shooting reportedly stemmed from a dispute that occurred between the two men Friday afternoon at an Irvine company where they both work, Porter said.

The gunman fled from the scene and remains at large.
