Canyon’s Thompson Invited to Camp

Tina Thompson, the goalkeeper for the Canyon girls’ soccer team, has been selected to join a training camp from which the under-20 U.S. National Team will be chosen.

Thompson, a senior and four-year starter for Canyon, is one of 24 players invited to the camp Dec. 26 through Jan. 3 in Orlando, Fla. She and Shelly Finger, a sophomore at North Carolina, are the only two goalies and therefore both are expected to make the cut to 18 players.

The team, which is a step below the U.S. Women’s National Team, will make trips to France in April and Denmark in August.
