Lopez’s 32 Points Lift Pepperdine Over Boise State in Overtime, 92-88

Junior guard Damin Lopez scored a career-high 32 points, including two three-pointers in overtime, to lead Pepperdine to a 92-88 victory over Boise State Monday night at Boise, Ida.

Lopez scored three of his school-record nine three-pointers during the final three minutes of regulation to help the Waves come back from an eight-point deficit. Lopez, who had only five points at halftime, made an 18-footer with 19 seconds remaining to tie the score, 79-79, and send it into overtime.

Boise State took an 86-80 lead in the overtime period, but Lopez responded with two more three-point baskets to tie it, at 86-86. The Waves then outscored the Broncos, 6-2, during the final two minutes.

Boise State (5-2) was led by Tanoka Beard, who scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and John Coker, who added 18 points.

Dana Jones added 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Pepperdine, while Byron Jenson scored 13 points and reserve Steve Guild added 12.

Pepperdine, which stretched its winning streak to three games and ended Boise State’s four-game winning streak, improved to 4-2.
