Penny Alfonso, a registered nurse from Glendale, received Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s Morris Press Humanism Award for 1993.
Alfonso, who is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, has been the kidney transplant coordinator at the center for eight years. Her duties range from intake counseling to post-discharge tracking of patients.
The award honors individuals for their compassion in their work with patients and the public.
