THOUSAND OAKS : City Hall, Businesses, Homes Lose Power
Thousand Oaks City Hall lost power for about 30 minutes Wednesday when a piece of overhead utility equipment across town failed and crashed to the ground.
The fallen lightning arrestor at Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Taylor Court left 1,200 businesses and residences in Thousand Oaks without power from 11:36 a.m. to 12:08 p.m., said Carol Larson, a Southern California Edison area manager. Nine customers remained without power until late in the afternoon, Larson said.
Most of the affected customers were in an area north of the Ventura Freeway, south of Hillcrest Drive, east of Moorpark Road and west of Rancho Conejo Road, Larson said.
City Hall was one of a small group of customers outside that area that also lost power, she said.
