Share

A horse that had thrown its rider was killed early Thursday when it galloped into a street and was struck by a limousine, the Los Angeles police reported.

The accident occurred at 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Chatsworth Street and Deering Road, Officer Donna Arauz said. She said Jeri Hornstin, 32, of Chatsworth was riding the horse in the area when for an unknown reason she was thrown from the mount.

Before Hornstin, who suffered a leg injury in the fall, could stop the horse, it ran into the intersection and was struck and killed by a westbound limousine driven by Bridget Kattell, 37, of Chatsworth, Arauz said.

Kattell suffered slight back and neck pain but was not hospitalized, Arauz said. There were no passengers in the limousine. Hornstin was treated at a nearby hospital for her leg injury.
