LA CRESCENTA : Sheriff’s Advisory Committee Forming

Share

Crescenta Valley sheriff’s officials are asking for residents to help form a new law enforcement advisory panel.

A similar committee formed last year folded earlier this year.

That committee did not fare well because of a lack of organization, said Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Lt. Bob Dixon.

“We really didn’t have a cohesive plan together (for them),” he said.

Members of the new citizens committee will be expected to undergo a criminal history record check and attend an orientation program covering subjects ranging from internal investigations to complaint procedures, Dixon said.

The panel will help the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station shape the community’s law enforcement focus, Dixon said.

Officials have yet to determine the size of the panel and its schedule. Applications are available at the sheriff’s station and at most chamber of commerce offices throughout Crescenta Valley. Deadline is the last week of July.

“We’d like to get people who are really involved in the community,” the lieutenant said. “A barber would be great. Somebody that owns a restaurant would be terrific.”

Station commander Capt. Michael Quinn will make the final selections.
