United Airlines Workers Seek Majority Stake: The airline’s employee unions said they will offer contract concessions in exchange for majority ownership, marking the fifth employee bid for control of the nation’s No. 2 airline since 1987. Management said it would not comment until it receives a specific proposal from the three unions, which represent pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and ground crews. The unions represent about 54,000 of United’s nearly 83,000 employees.
