Altadena : Campus Improvement Plan

Share

Burbank Elementary School in Altadena has been chosen by the Pasadena Chamber of Commerce as the first site for the civic group’s campus improvement program.

The chamber program, called First Base, will use volunteers to assist schools in making improvements to campuses and provide materials and supplies.

Bill Ukropina, chairman of the chamber’s education committee, said Burbank School was selected first because he knows Principal Richard Boccia and considers him an aggressive educational leader.

He said chamber members and parents, recruited through the PTA, will visit the campus four times a year to paint, repair and update facilities.

The chamber plans to initiate the program at two more schools next spring and another in fall, 1994, Ukropina said.

Project Chairman Steve Haderlein said donors of supplies include Ameron, which manufactures a variety of paints, including anti-graffiti paint, and Pasadena Beautiful Foundation, which will provide greenery.
