County’s Home Sales Decline Slightly From ’92

Home sales in Ventura County were off 1.8% in the first six months of 1993 from the same period last year, the smallest percentage decline for any county in Southern California, according to TRW REDI Property Data.

The service said 3,995 home sales closed escrow from January though June of this year, compared to 4,069 in the first half of 1992.

In Southern California as a whole, sales in this year’s first half declined to 82,086 from 92,000 a year earlier, a drop of 10.8%.

TRW REDI said Ventura County’s average home price in the first six months of 1993 fell to $232,307 from $237,753 a year earlier, a decline of 2.3%. This compares to a price drop of 3.4% for all of Southern California.
