Nation IN BRIEF : PENNSYLVANIA : Twin Passes 72-Hour Mark After Surgery

Siamese twin Angela Lakeberg reached a milestone when she passed the crucial 72-hour mark after the completion of surgery that separated her from her deceased sister, Amy. Officials at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia said that the 7-week-old infant, who weighs 8.5 pounds, remains in critical but stable condition and that the heart and liver she once shared with her sister continue to function normally. She was still breathing with the aid of a respirator but was sucking vigorously on a pacifier.
