SACRAMENTO —
The Assembly approved and sent to Gov. Pete Wilson a bill to cut the salaries of 63 political appointees to 11 high-paid state boards and commissions by an average of 43% to a maximum of $52,500, the same pay that rank-and-file state legislators receive.
The legislation, authored by Sen. Mike Thompson (D-St. Helena), was approved by a 55-9 vote.
There was no lower house debate on the measure. It had passed the Senate on a 22-15 vote.
