Another auto nameplate is joining Volvo, BMW and other foreign cars already being imported through the Port of Hueneme. The new make, Britain’s Land Rover Discovery, is due to roll off Wallenius Lines’ Madame Butterfly shortly before noon today.

Discovery, described as an upscale four-wheel-drive vehicle, will more than double the number of Land Rover units entering the U. S. market through Port Hueneme, according to Roger Ball, the company’s vice president for Western operations.

Since 1992, when it began using the port, Land Rover has imported $145 million worth of vehicles through Ventura County, he said.
