THOUSAND OAKS : City to Hold Event for Spring Cleaners
Spring cleaners will get a chance to dump their garbage and yard waste at Thousand Oaks’ annual Community Clean-up and Recycling Day, set for Saturday in Conejo Creek Park.
City officials expect at least 1,500 cars to stream through the park at the corner of Janss Road and the Moorpark Freeway from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The city will not accept hazardous waste, but residents can bring old appliances, furniture, grass clippings, scrap metal, clothing or any other kind of household junk. Goodwill Industries representatives will be on hand to collect salvageable items.
Participants must be prepared to unload their own cars, and should expect to wait up to half an hour to enter the park.
“This is the largest event of its kind in Ventura County,” recycling coordinator Grahame Watts said, “and it’s always well-received.”
