World IN BRIEF : SOMALIA : Fight Between Clans Kills 30, Hurts 300

Two Somali clans fought each other with mortars and automatic weapons in a battle that raged around U.N. headquarters in Mogadishu for hours. About 30 Somalis were killed and an estimated 300 were wounded. Three foreigners, including two U.N. peacekeepers, were slightly wounded by stray bullets that fell inside the walled, heavily fortified U.N. headquarters and at the city’s airport, which is a U.N. supply base.
