‘Walking Dead’ Unit

Thank you for your article on Sept. 10 about the “Walking Dead” Marine battalion. This article clearly depicts the hardships and suffering endured by those who served our country during those trying times. Seldom has this service ever been as positively and graciously acknowledged.

I am a former Marine who served under Capt. Al Slater in 1967. Since reading this story I have contacted Al, and we have a lot to talk and reminisce about.
