Baylor puts much emphasis on the fact it has a 3-0 record with three freshman starters and seven freshman backups. However, USC is playing two freshman starters and eight freshman backups. . . . Baylor defensive coordinator Bob Cope was USC’s secondary coach in 1991 and ‘92, and Baylor strength and conditioning Coach Robb Rogers held the same position at USC from 1989-92.

The 68-yard interception return by Quincy Harrison at Penn State was the longest by a Trojan since Cleveland Colter went 94 yards on a 1987 return at California. . . . Punter John Stonehouse is off to a fast start. The junior from Pasadena is the early Pac-10 leader at 43.3 yards per punt, which puts him 16th in the country. . . .
