Adoption Programs
As executive director of Holy Family Services, Counseling and Adoption, I must really protest the statement made in the Robert Scheer Column Left, “Returning to Bad Old Days of Orphanages” (Dec. 11).
I am bothered by the erroneous statement, “Vista del Mar runs the only licensed adoption program in Los Angeles County.” This is not true.
Holy Family Services has been providing quality licensed adoption and foster care services in Los Angeles and Orange counties since our inception in 1949. In addition, we belong to the California Assn. of Adoption Agencies, which is an umbrella group for many licensed adoption agencies both in Los Angeles County and statewide.
It is often very difficult to get attention paid to the field of adoption in the press. To omit all other adoption agencies such as ourselves doing this good and vital work is an omission that cannot go uncorrected.
