2 Chosen Again as Presiding Jurists
Superior Court Judge Melinda A. Johnson and Municipal Court Judge John R. Smiley have been reelected to preside over their courts for a second year, officials said.
Also elected to second one-year terms were Robert C. Bradley as assistant Superior Court presiding judge and Barry Klopfer as assistant Municipal Court presiding judge.
The selections were made by the judges of the respective courts. The new term will begin Jan. 1.
Johnson was appointed to the Superior Court in 1982, after serving 11 months as a Municipal Court judge. As a lawyer, she was in private practice and a deputy district attorney. Smiley was appointed to the Municipal Court in 1986, after 13 years in private practice.
Bradley was appointed to the Superior Court in 1984 from the Municipal Court bench. Prior to that, he was Ventura County’s chief deputy district attorney.
Klopfer was appointed to the Municipal Court in 1987 after several years as a deputy district attorney.
