Officer Bruised in Traffic Accident
An Oxnard police officer was slightly injured Monday afternoon after his motorcycle sideswiped a van and a pickup truck at Ventura and Gonzales roads in Oxnard.
Police said Officer Timothy Lumas, 37, was heading south on Ventura Road and approaching a red light when he began to ride down the line between two lanes.
As he approached from the rear of a pickup truck, the light turned green and the gap between the two vehicles closed. Police said Lumas sideswiped the pickup and the van before falling down on the pavement.
The drivers of the two vehicles--Mark Magallanes, 30, of Oxnard and Lorne Grant, 58, of Oxnard--stopped immediately and assisted Lumas.
Lumas was treated for minor injuries at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and released. Police are investigating the incident.
