NEWBURY PARK : Children to Find Joys of Winter in Library

Share

This winter, preschoolers will be able to cuddle up to a warm fire, mold a fat snowman and sled down an icy slope--all without leaving the cozy confines of the Newbury Park Branch Library.

The library will bring winter magic to children ages 3 through 5 during a six-week story time series featuring songs, filmstrips, games and, of course, books. Free tickets will be available to all Thousand Oaks Library cardholders starting Jan. 3 at the Newbury Park branch circulation desk.

The series will run from 1:30 to 2 p.m. every Tuesday from Jan. 17 through Feb. 21. Librarians will present material designed to spark the preschoolers’ imaginations and fit the theme of “Winter Warm-Ups.”

“We don’t have that much experience with snow around here, so we have to read stories to teach the kids about it,” librarian Nancy Sevier explained. “Kids seem to love the stories.”
