About Those Rail Cars: The Assembly Transportation Committee will hold a hearing at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sacramento to investigate the delays that have plagued the delivery to Los Angeles of 113 rail passenger cars built by financially troubled Morrison Knudsen Corp. The Boise, Ida.-based firm--whose controversial chairman, William Agee, resigned earlier this month--has told the California Department of Transportation that it will be at least one year late in completing some portions of the approximately $200-million contract. As of last week, Morrison Knudsen had delivered only three cars instead of the approximately 20 it had promised. The delays have forced Metrolink, which operates commuter lines in the Los Angeles area, to postpone the expansion of service later this year.
