Los Alamitos’ Ali Ton Commits to Wyoming

Times all-county point guard Ali Ton of Los Alamitos has verbally committed to Wyoming, Griffin Coach Steve Brooks said Wednesday.

Ton, who came to Los Alamitos from Turkey three years ago, averaged 14 points and was second in the county in assists, averaging nine. Ton shot 79% from the line and led his team to the Southern Section Division I-AA semifinals.

Michele Bilodeau will join Rick Falk as co-head coach for the Tustin girls’ basketball team next season, Falk said.

Bilodeau played basketball for Foothill, from which she graduated in 1983. She then spent a year playing at Cal Poly Pomona and three at UC Santa Barbara.

Marlon Watson, a sophomore guard at Rancho Santiago, has signed a letter of intent to play at Southern California College next season. Watson, a graduate of Savanna High, earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors last season, averaging 11.6 points. He also led the Dons with 7.8 rebounds and six assists.

Tim Ellis has been hired as Trabuco Hills football coach, Principal George Diedrich said. His hiring is subject to approval of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. Ellis was Tustin’s coach last season, when the Tillers were 1-9. Ellis replaces Jim Barnett, who resigned after 10 seasons.

Kerry Kelter has resigned as girls’ soccer coach at Huntington Beach High to complete her graduate studies, the school announced.
