Day Tour Planned of Tecate Cypress Reserve

Naturalist Gordon Ruser will lead an outing Sunday to see rare flora and fauna in a Sierra Club excursion to the Tecate Cypress Ecological Reserve.

The area, in the Santa Ana Mountains, is home to the northernmost stand of Tecate cypress and was recently named an ecological reserve by the state Department of Fish and Game. It is also home to the rare heart-leaved pitcher sage.

Lunar eclipse--In Tuesday’s Science Calendar, the day of the partial lunar eclipse was incorrect. It will will be visible from 4:41 to 5:56 a.m. Saturday; a lunar occultation of the star Spica will also occur Saturday.
