Antar Brothers’ Convictions Overturned: A three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia overturned the stock fraud convictions of former electronics chain tycoon Eddie (Crazy Eddie) Antar and his brother, citing bias on the part of the judge. Eddie and Mitchell Antar were found guilty of a scheme begun in the early 1980s to inflate stock prices for the New York-based Crazy Eddie chain, which had retail stores in four states and ran loud TV commercials advertising prices that were “IN-SANE!!!” The brothers were convicted in 1993 of racketeering and stock fraud involving the theft of more than $80 million.
