STANTON : Council to Meet Potential Planners

Share

The City Council at today’s meeting will interview applicants for the Planning Commission.

The council had put off appointing new commissioners, which would ordinarily be done in January, until a decision was reached about whether to disband the Planning Commission altogether.

In the wake of the county’s bankruptcy, Councilman Sal Sapien had proposed that the council absorb the duties of the commission as a cost-saving measure. That strategy, however, was rejected at the council’s last meeting.

Ten citizens have applied for three openings on the commission. Each successful applicant will serve a four-year term on the five-member board.

Commissioners are paid $50 for each meeting of the commission that they attend. The panel generally meets twice a month.
