Share

The Master’s Meet, featuring the finest track and field athletes in the Southern Section, will begin at 5 p.m. today for field events and 7 p.m. for running events at Cerritos College.

The meet serves as qualifying for next week’s State meet at Cerritos College, with the top five athletes in each Master’s event earning berths in the State meet.

Esperanza senior Courtney Pugmire and Brethren Christian senior Brandon Pacheco were multiple winners in the section finals and are among the favorites in their distance races.

Seniors Reggie Curry of Tustin (triple jump) and Adalberto Sanchez of Capistrano Valley (3,200) both finished sixth in the Master’s competition a year ago and will look for their first advancement to the State meet.

Dana Hills sophomore Bryan Harrison had the second-fastest qualifying marks in the 100 (10.42 wind-aided) and 200 (21.10).
