Outfielder Adam Kennedy did--and didn’t--earn freshman All-American honors on Thursday.

Depends on how you look at it.

Kennedy, who batted .360 and drove in 54 runs for Cal State Northridge, was selected to the Mizuno All-American team, but was mistakenly left off the list of honorees issued by Collegiate Baseball magazine.

A typesetter apparently skipped Kennedy’s name when compiling the list before it was faxed to media outlets.

No such problem for freshman pitcher Randy Wolf of Pepperdine and third baseman Ryan Hankins of Nevada Las Vegas, who also were named to the team.

Wolf, a left-hander from El Camino Real High, was 8-1 for the Waves with an earned-run average of 1.84.

Hankins, from Simi Valley High, batted .383 with 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 49 RBIs.

Kennedy had hitting streaks of 15 and 18 games for the Matadors. He hit safely in 37 of his final 39 games and hits eight homers.

Rich Igou of San Francisco, a left-handed pitcher from Notre Dame High, received honorable mention. Igou led the Dons with six victories, a 3.52 ERA and 70 strikeouts.

Jon Schaeffer of Stanford, a graduate of Harvard-Westlake High, received honorable mention as a designated hitter. Schaeffer batted .327 with two homers and 22 RBIs.
