R S V P / ORANGE COUNTY : Planet to Tommy Tune: Come In, Please! : Enthusiasm goes both ways when ‘Stage Door Charley’ cast members visit the starry, Hollywood-style eatery.

Broadway supernova Tommy Tune got a taste of Tinseltown on Tuesday night when he attended a bash at Planet Hollywood at South Coast Plaza Village in Santa Ana.

Arriving by limousine following his opening night performance in “Stage Door Charley” at Segerstrom Hall, the winner of nine Tony Awards posed for photographers next to a wall of celebrity handprints, sipped a margarita with extra salt and rubbed elbows with the patrons of the Orange County Performing Center.

First in Line

Minutes after Tune arrived, Planet Hollywood President Frank DiBella presented him with a butter-soft black leather jacket embellished with the restaurant’s logo.

“For me?” asked Tune. “Are you serious? Wow! Can I try it on?”

Tune quickly doffed his navy blue linen jacket, which he had paired with navy linen pants, navy silk shirt and silver belt and boots.

“Is it a big one ?” joked the 6-foot, 6-inch singer-dancer- choreographer, slipping his long arms into the jacket.

It was. Applause from the crowd. “This is just too cool,” he said. “This is my first visit to a Planet Hollywood.”

Kudos

Was that just the best show you’ve seen ever?” gushed center board member Carol Hoffman. “I’m so happy for Tommy. I love him!”

Tune’s co-star, Darcie Roberts--who plays his girlfriend, Libby, in the production--was also effusive. “We have so much fun,” she said. “Tommy is the best!”

Does Roberts, who is 21, have a difficult time relating to a love interest who is 35 years her senior?

“I don’t even think about the age difference,” she said of the 56-year-old Tune. “He has so much energy and talent.”

The Buzz

DiBella is proud of his restaurant’s movie memorabilia. Movie costume items--encased in plexiglass--that have been worn by stars such as Cher, Madonna, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bruce Willis and Sly Stallone--dot the walls.

But on Tuesday night, DiBella was hoping he would end up with one of the most famous costumes of all--the white disco suit sported by John Travolta 18 years ago in “Saturday Night Fever.”

Christie’s of New York has it up for auction [Wednesday],” he said. “I’m prepared to bid $50,000 on it.”

DiBella also had his eye on the tablets used by Charlton Heston in the “Ten Commandments” and the 1940 Buick Phaeton that was in the background when Humphrey Bogart said, “Here’s looking at you,” to Ingrid Bergman in “Casablanca.”

“Arnold Schwarzenegger is bidding on items, too,” DiBella confided. “We had a meeting last night, and I told him, ‘Don’t bid against me on the Travolta suit!’ ”
