TRIPLE FUN: Even with the shortened season, the surprising California Angels are on a pace where three hitters--Jim Edmonds, J.T. Snow, and Tim Salmon--could bat over .300 with 100 RBIs or more. You know the last time that happened for the Angels? Never. . . . In its 34 previous seasons, the closest was the division winner in 1979, when Brian Downing, Dan Ford and Don Baylor hit 100-plus RBIs and Rod Carew joined Downing above .300. . . . Through Sunday, the Angels were batting .284--another high. The closest was again in 1979, when the team batted .282.

TORCH II: Remember the drama in 1984, when the Olympic torch crossed the country by foot soldier and finally passed through Orange County? It’s coming back in 1996, en route to Atlanta. Officials announced Monday that the torch would leave Los Angeles County on April 27, come through Seal Beach--street route not yet finalized--to local host Huntington Beach. . . . The torch will exit the county April 28 at San Clemente, on its way to San Diego.

PARADISE AT HOME: In its latest annual “America’s Best Meal Deals” book, the Zagat Survey gives a “26-or-above” rating only for “extraordinary to perfection.” None of the restaurants it reviewed in Atlanta got one. Neither did Chicago, Dallas, Miami or Los Angeles. . . . Which is why they were beaming Monday at Seafood Paradise in Little Saigon in Westminster, which got a “26.” Zagat says of the seafood and Chinese restaurant: “Remarkably well run . . . dim sum heaven.”

OVER THE MOUNTAIN: Things are looking up at Euro Disney in France. It will post its first ever profit when it publishes third-quarter earnings this week, analysts say. . . . Part of the reason: A 20% cut in prices helped boost attendance. So did the ride that it opened last month: It finally got Space Mountain. . . . Maybe good news brings on good news. Says NatWest Sellier analyst David Klein: “People didn’t show up last year because the papers kept saying the park was going to close.”
