HUNTINGTON BEACH : Bicyclist Critically Injured in Accident
A 35-year-old bicyclist from Los Angeles was critically injured Monday when he was struck crossing Slater Avenue just west of Morgan Lane, police said.
Amado Cassarez suffered head and internal injuries when a car going east on Slater Avenue hit him at 5:33 p.m., Huntington Beach police said. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit Tuesday, a hospital spokesperson said.
Neither the police nor the hospital knew if Cassarez has relatives.
The driver of the car, Laura McMillan, 27, of Fountain Valley, was not injured in the accident and most likely will not be charged, Police Sgt. Bill Peterson said.
