Home Depot to Introduce Home Improvement Book: Home Depot Inc. is introducing a home improvement reference book, a quarterly magazine and a CD-ROM, hoping to capitalize on its name recognition. The book, “Home Improvement 1-2-3,” will hit the shelves of the Atlanta-based company’s 370 stores this week and will be available next month nationwide in other stores. Home Depot interviewed more than 1,000 Home Depot employees before drafting the step-by-step procedures. The book goes over the basics--buying a paintbrush and choosing a ladder--and includes the complex--installing kitchen countertops and putting up a roof. Better Homes & Gardens Books is publishing the 480-page book, which will sell for $34.95.
