Car Goes Airborne in Westside Crash, Fatally Injures Mail Carrier

A letter carrier delivering mail on foot was fatally injured Saturday when he was hit by one of two cars involved in a crash at a Westside intersection, authorities said.

The collision sent one car airborne, hitting the carrier at Washington Street and Lincoln Boulevard just outside Marina del Rey, said Sgt. Paul Fitzpatrick of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The 38-year-old carrier, whose name was not released, was taken to Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The two motorists involved in the collision were also hurt, one of them critically, and both were transported to hospitals for treatment.
