Truck Rolls Over Man in Driveway
COSTA MESA —
A pickup truck rolled over a 78-year-old man as he was trying to recharge the truck’s battery in his driveway.
Joseph Wavra was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where hospital officials listed his condition as stable.
The accident occurred at 6:45 a.m. at Wavra’s home on Jamaica Road.
Police said he was hooking up a battery charger to his daughter’s truck when he apparently pulled on the brake release instead of the hood release.
The truck “rolled down the driveway and hit him,” Sgt. John Pherrin said.
