SANTA ANA : City to Publish Guide to Museums, Galleries
To familiarize both residents and visitors with its growing arts community, the city will spend a little more than $8,000 to publish a guide to downtown museums and art galleries.
The guide, which will be out by spring, was inspired by the growing number of local requests for information on city programs, according to a staff report. Susan Jones-Helper, the city’s downtown project manager, said the guide will also be useful to tourists.
Promoting the arts is one way in which officials hope to revitalize the downtown and burnish the city’s image.
The guide was approved by the community redevelopment and housing commission in October, and the design is being completed.
Jones-Helper said the guide will be 11 inches by 17 inches and will fold to form a small brochure. It will include a map of the city, with arts venues indicated, and possibly restaurant and retail locations too.
About 10,000 copies will be available free at City Hall and at galleries and museums, and for distribution by city officials when they are traveling.
