Top-Rated JC Quarterback Commits to Play for CSUN
Aaron Flowers, the quarterback who led Valley College to a No. 2 ranking in the nation, has committed to play football at Cal State Northridge, Valley Coach Jim Fenwick said Monday.
Flowers, who is 6 feet, 185 pounds, completed 225 of 339 passes for 3,135 yards and 26 touchdowns, leading the Monarchs to a 10-1 record. His 66% completion rate is the highest ever for a Valley College quarterback.
The Western State Conference South Division player of the year, Flowers played only one season at Valley after starting his career at Utah State. Because of NCAA transfer rules, though, he will not be able to enroll at Northridge until the fall.
Because he would not be available for spring football, many otherwise-interested Division I schools shied away from Flowers.
Chabot College center Gabriel Fernandez (6-1, 300) and El Camino College defensive tackle Keith Selico (6-2, 260) also said they will sign with Northridge.
