2 More Teens Held in S. Pasadena Shooting
Two more 14-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with a random shooting that left a man and a girl wounded at a South Pasadena High School football field after a “powder puff” football game, police said Sunday.
The pair were arrested a few hours after one other 14-year-old was taken into custody Saturday night, South Pasadena Police Sgt. Gabriel Thierry said. All three youths, whose names were not released, face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, he said.
Police said there are no other suspects.
The boys were outside a house near the school’s football field Friday evening when one of them fired the shots toward the crowd of about 150 people, police said.
A 48-year-old father of a South Pasadena High student was listed in stable condition Sunday afternoon after surgery at Huntington Memorial Hospital for an abdominal wound. A 16-year-old girl, struck in the calf, was treated at the hospital and released. Neither victim’s name was made public.
“There was no actual target. It was a real foolish act,” Thierry said.
One boy is a South Pasadena High student and the others attend San Marino High School, Thierry said. At least one is believed to be a member of an Asian gang, he said.
